Simple and Decadent Chocolate Martini

This rich and silky Chocolate Martini is delightfully easy to throw together, and as a bonus, you'll have leftover chocolate syrup to pour over ice cream for dessert.

For the chocolate syrup:
  • 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) Redpath® Granulated Sugar
  • 3/4 cup (175 mL) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (250 mL) water
  • dash of salt
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) vanilla
For the martini:
  • ice cubes
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) vodka
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) chocolate syrup
  • raspberries, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
For the chocolate syrup:

Step 1

Pour water into a small saucepan, then gently whisk in the sugar, cocoa, and salt.

Step 2

Bring mixture to a boil, stirring occasionally, for several minutes.

Step 3

Reduce heat and cook for 1 minute.

Step 4

Remove from heat and stir in vanilla. Cool. Store in the refrigerator in an airtight glass container.

For the martini:

Step 1

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Pour in vodka and chocolate syrup. Put the top on the shaker and shake well to thoroughly mix and chill the drink.

Step 2

Strain into martini glasses and garnish with raspberries, if desired. Serve immediately.
